From CAD to Concrete: Aligning Design with Reality
September 17, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
The Minnesota Concrete Council and the Minnesota Structural Engineers Association Younger Member Group invite you to join us for an in-person, hands-on event, “From CAD to Concrete: Aligning Design with Reality”.
Even the most well-detailed structural plans face challenges once construction begins. Field conditions, material variations, tolerances, and unforeseen obstacles can all influence how a project comes together. This presentation explores common disconnects between design intent and on-site execution, with a focus on concrete construction. We’ll discuss strategies for improving communication between engineers, contractors, and owners; adapting plans without sacrificing structural performance; and incorporating field feedback into future designs.
To bring concepts to life, the session will include a hands-on demonstration that allows participants to experience first-hand how small adjustments in the field can make a big difference in achieving design intent. Attendees will leave with practical tools for ensuring that what’s built matches the vision—both on paper and in performance.
When: Wednesday, September 17th at 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Where: Local 633 Training Center – 2180 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, MN 55112-1802
