Breakfast Meeting: Extended Joint Spacing for Slabs on Grade

"Extended Joint Spacing for Slabs on Grade" will be presented by Charles Nmai, PhD, PE (BASF Corporation).  Preventing cracks in concrete is traditionally achieved with steel reinforcement and saw-cutting of joints. These practices can lead to many problems for concrete contractors and building owners. The steel is difficult to position, the silica dust and noise can be a hazard, and taking the time to cut joints reduces productivity. In addition, drying shrinkage can cause curling and cracking, and cut joints can eventually become tripping hazards.

This presentation on Extending Joint Spacing will discuss the system of products and concrete mix design that can not only reduce the problems associated with saw-cutting joints, it can also help to increase the spacing between joints and could potentially eliminate the need for cut joints altogether.

Registration opens at 7:00 am.  A full, hot breakfast will be served beginning at 7:15 am.  The presentation will begin at 8:00 am and will conclude by 9:00 am.
